Sarahah is the best policy ?
Seven out of the ten people on Facebook have shared the Sarahah screenshots, are you one of them?
Back in the time, Kings used to disguise themselves and go amidst the folks to know their opinions about the ruler. It helped them gather honest reviews from the people which would eventually help the king in running the state properly.
They say 'history repeats itself'. With the advent of technology, this disguise has come in the form of Sarahah, a platform which according to the developers allows users to “get honest feedback from co-workers and friends” to “help people self-develop by receiving constructive anonymous feedback”.
In simple terms, if you think that a person is blockhead but you are reluctant to say it in the face of person due to social etiquettes, just post it on Sarahah, completely anonymously, leaving the receiver in complete despair!
Fun, right ?
With the app occupying the pole position for past few months, one can easily figure out eagerness of the people to know what others think of them. It provides an easy and convenient method of self-exploration without disruption of social relationships.
Initially developed for employees to give anonymous feedback about the employer; Zain al-Abdin Tawfiq, a former Wipro employee, found it to have greater potential and hence launched it as an application.
What followed were the declarations of love, homosexuality and much more.
Pablo Picaso once quoted,"Every positive value has its price in negative terms, the genius of Einstein leads to Hiroshima!" Same applies for Sarahah.
You can't tame a thing once it's out on net and it's sure to get wild.
With the background of apps like

the Police departments in US cities of Kansas, Michigan and New Zealand have already warned parents against the app. What they fear is the transformation of this trend to Sarahah shaming.
There have been reported incidents of stalking, harassing and cyberbullying with the help of these apps in the past and an increased rates of teenage suicide are seen usually after these kind of apps go viral.
As the ancient greek philospher Plato quoted ," Necessity is the mother of invention." Sarahah came into existence because there was a deep need for it in the society.
It will be interesting to watch the course which Sarahah takes in the coming months and measures by the developers to maintain the hype around this app.
Deriving its origin from the arabic word for honesty, will the app be able to justify the old saying"Sarahah is the best policy" in coming times? We will surely find that out.
